MOUNT UPDATE: Mount St. Mary's powered past Howard for a pair of wins on Wednesday night. Rachel Heinze and Marian Ruf combined for four home runs and 13 RBI in the 12-4 and 13-1 road victories. Heinze leads the Northeast Conference with a .409 average while she is second with 13 home runs and third with 41 RBI. Sam Lichtner picked up the win in the opening game to move to 12-7 on the year. The 12 wins are the most by a Mount pitcher since Nicole Pagano went 15-13 in 2013.
ABOUT THE BULLDOGS: Bryant is 10-33 overall and tied with the Mount with a 5-7 record in the Northeast Conference. The Bulldogs were last in action on April 22, dropping a pair of games to NEC leader Saint Francis U by the scores of 8-0 and 9-0. Freshman Gabrielle Ermish is 8-7 with a 3.39 ERA while hitting .247 at the plate. Kaleigh Goulart is hitting .234 while leading the team wit five doubles, three home runs and 13 RBI.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES: The Mount and Bryant have split 14 all-time meetings in the series that began in 2010. The teams have split doubleheaders in each of the past two years while Bryant is four of the past six meetings. The Mount is 3-3 all-time at home against Bryant.
LAST YEAR'S MATCHUP: The Mount and Bryant split their doubleheader at Bryant's Conaty Park last year. The Mount fell 5-1 in the opening game before rebounding for a 3-0 win in game two. Marian Ruf tossed a two-hitter in the nightcap to pace the Mount to the 3-0 victory. In the opener, Lindsay Heinze had a pair of hits to lead the Mount offense.
HEINZE BREAKS RBI RECORD: Rachel Heinze drove in six runs in the Mount's doubleheader sweep at Howard on Wednesday to give her 113 RBI for her career, breaking the Mount's all-time record. Heinze is also the Mount's all-time leader in home runs. She hit two on Wednesday to give her a school-record 39 for her career.
HEINZE LEADS NEC IN HITTING: Senior Rachel Heinze leads the Northeast Conference with a .409 average this season. For the year, Heinze is 54-for-132 (.409) at the plate with 12 doubles, 13 home runs, 41 RBI and 49 runs scored. She is second in the NEC in home runs and third in runs scored and RBI.
LINDSAY HEINZE PILING UP THE DOUBLES: Sophomore Lindsay Heinze leads the Mount and is second in the Northeast Conference with 15 doubles this season. Heinze is hitting .343 on the year (10th in the NEC) while adding five home runs and 32 RBI.
LICHTNER COLLECTING WINS: Senior Sam Lichtner is 12-7 with a 3.20 ERA on the season. The right-hander's 12 wins this year are tied for third in the NEC, and are the most by a Mount pitcher since Nicole Pagano went 15-13 in 2013. In NEC play, Lichtner is 4-2 with a 2.33 ERA in six starts.
LOOKING FOR 20 WINS: The Mount has 19 wins this season, the most since the team went 19-24-1 in 2014. The last time the Mount won 20 games was 2010 when the team finished 25-25.
