Mount St. Mary's Softball Downed by Purdue

March 12, 2017--The Mount St. Mary's softball team closed out their spring trip to Florida with a 10-2 loss to Purdue on Sunday morning.  Lindsay Heinze went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI for the Mountaineers.

Purdue (7-17) took control of the game with a seven-run inning in the bottom of the first.  The Mount (4-13) cut into the deficit in the third when Shea McFarland walked and Jessica Greenewald singled to put runners on first and second with one out.  Heinze followed with a double to center field that plated both runners to cut the deficit to 7-2.

Purdue, however, scored once in the fouth and two more times in the fifth to secure the win.

The Mount returns to action on March 15 with a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader at Morgan State.
