Lewisburg, Pa. (September 7, 2018) - Mount St. Mary's men's tennis advanced eight to the Quarterfinals at the Bucknell Invitational on Friday. Six Mountaineers will be competing in the Quarterfinals of singles action and two Mount duos will be competing in the Quarterfinals of doubles competition.
In flight one of singles competition, sophomores Jackson Wood and Parth Sharma advanced to the Quarterfinals. Wood topped Loyola's Kyle Gower in two sets, 6-2, 6-2 and Sharma edged Loyola's Matt Fitzmaurice in three sets, 7-6, 1-6, 10-3. Freshman Alonzo Garcia moved on to the Quarterfinals of the number two singles flight on a bye. In singles flight three, sophomore Evan Hine, junior Gabriel Santos and senior Chris Lindsay all advanced to the Quarterfinals after defeating their opponents in three sets each. Hine downed Colgate's Nate Romig 6-4, 2-6, 10-4....Santos topped Bucknell's Adrien Crastes 6-7, 6-4, 10-8....Lindsay defeated Loyola's Nathan Ferro 6-2, 4-6, 13-11.
Two Mountaineer duos advanced to the Quarterfinals of flight one of doubles competition. Junior Jean Armstrong and Garcia teamed together for a 6-3 win while Wood and Sharma paired up for a 6-3 victory as well.
The Mount will get ready for the second day of competition today, September 8.
