Emmitsburg, Md. (November 3, 2018) – The Mount St. Mary's men's swimming & diving team topped Howard, 143-126, and fell to Monmouth, 152.5-108.5, in the team's first home meet of the season on Saturday afternoon.
John Wilson led the Mountaineers at the meet with a trio of top-two finishes, including a victory in the 200 breast in a time of 2:26.30. Wilson also placed second in both the 100 breast (1:06.65) and 200 IM (2:16.15).
Ryan Carroll helped pace the Mount at the meet, swimming to a first-place finish in the 100 fly (58.47), while placing second in the 200 fly (2:17.67). Will Twizell posted the Mount's other victory at the meet, racing to first place in the 200 IM (2:14.22).
Rookie Ryan Griffiths registered a pair of second-place showings on the afternoon, clocking in at 1:00.40 in the 100 back and 2:11.95 in the 200 back. Nicholas Starvaggi notched the Mount's other second-place finish on the day, touching the wall in 9:18.50 in the 800 free.
The Mount's relay squad of Griffiths, Twizell, Carroll and Peter Jones finished second in the 400 medley relay (3:59.69), and the squad of Griffiths, Cudahy, Peter Jones and Carroll took third place in the 400 free relay (3:37.23).
The Mountaineers are back in action at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on November 16-18.
