ABOUT THE MOUNT
The Mount St. Mary's women's team has posted five straight victories to open the 2017-18 campaign, marking its best start to a season in program history. Last time out, the Mountaineers edged Howard by a 117-106 margin in Washington, D.C. Mary Lombardi won the 500 and 1000 freestyle events and Maggie deTar posted victories in the 100 and 200 freestyles as the duo combined for four first-place showings to help lead the Mount to victory at the meet.
In just its second season as a program, the men's team has already earned a pair of wins on the year. Back in early October, the Mount topped VMI by a 119-95 margin for its first victory in program history. The Mountaineers followed it up with another win the following weekend, clipping Monmouth, 134-128. Last time out, the Mount was downed by Howard, 123-91. Will Twizell paced the Mount with victories in the 100 back and 200 IM, while Nicholas Starvaggi placed first in the 1000 free and Eiann Bulatao won the 1-meter dive.
LAST YEAR AT THE F&M INVITATIONAL
The women's squad earned a third-place finish at the 2016 Franklin & Marshall Invitational with 911 team points. The Mountaineers collected top-three finishes five different events, paced by Amanda Moore's victories in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events. Maggie deTar took second in the 500 free, Bridget Vaughan placed third in the 1650 free and the Mount's 800 free relay squad notched third place in the event.
The men's team finished in ninth place at last year's invite with 504.5 team points. The Mount claimed three top-three finishes at the meet, led by Will Twizell who placed second in the 100 breast and third in the 400 IM. Brock Cudahy registered the other top-three finish, registering a second-place showing in the 200 free.
The Mountaineers close out fall semester competition at the Loyola Invitational from December 3-4.
