Men’s Swimming & Diving Edges Monmouth to Register Second Straight Victory

West Long Branch, N.J. (October 13, 2017) – Coming off its first victory in program history last weekend, the Mount St. Mary's University men's swimming & diving team edged Monmouth by a 134-128 margin on Friday to collect its second straight win.

RESULTS

Brock Cudahy and Will Twizell led the way for the Mountaineers with a pair of individual wins apiece. Cudahy took first place in the 100 (50.15) and 200 (1:47.46) free, while Twizell registered the top spot in the 200 fly (2:02.46) and 200 IM (2:00.52).

Rookies Ryan Carroll and John Wilson helped pace the Mount with a win each. Carroll clocked in at 5:04.97 in the 500 free for the win, and Wilson earned a first place showing in the 200 breast in 2:13.56, with Aidan McCormick finishing just behind him in 2:14.85 for a second-place showing. McCormick also won the 100 breast with a time of 1:00.39.

The Mountaineers won both relay events to help secure the tight victory. The squad of Twizell, Wilson, Thomas de Xavier and Cudahy registered the top time in the 400 medley relay in 3:41.23, and the relay team of Cudahy, Carroll, Wilson and John Mata closed out the meet with a victory in the 200 free relay in 1:30.21.

The Mount stays in New Jersey for a meet with Saint Peter's tomorrow (October 14) at 10 a.m.
