ABOUT THE MOUNT
The women's squad opened the season with three straight victories over VMI (153-43), Manhattan (136-78) and Howard (169-91) to move to 3-0 for the second consecutive year after starting the 2015-16 campaign with four straight wins. The Mountaineers followed up the three dual meets with competition at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational to close out the fall semester, where they placed third out of 13 teams with 911 team points. The team claimed seven top-5 finishes in individual events during the three-day invitational, led by Amanda Moore, who won both the 50 free and 100 free, and placed fourth in the 100 fly. Maggie deTar finished second in the 500 free and fifth in the 1650 free for a pair of top-5 showings, while Bridget Vaughan took third in the 1650 and Maddie McGraw placed fourth in the 100 back for the Mount's other top finishes at the invite.
The men's team has seen some early success in its inaugural season, beginning with its first-ever meet in program history to open the season against VMI and Manhattan. The team posted six top-three finishes in individual events at the meet, led by a combined five from Brock Cudahy and Will Twizell. The Mount followed it up with an impressive showing against Howard as Twizell registered first-place showings in the 200m fly, 200m back and 200m IM, and Vincent Huang added victories in 50m and 200m breaststroke events. The Mountaineers closed out the fall semester with a ninth-place finish at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational, led by three top-5 showings from Twizell in the 400 IM (2nd place), 100 breast (3rd) and 200 breast (4th). Aidan McCormick posted a pair of top-5 finishes in the 100 breast (4th) and 200 breast (5th), and Cudahy notched a second-place showing in the 200 free.
Both the men and women return to action for their final tune-up before championships with a meet at Loyola on February 4 at 1 p.m.
