The Mountaineers opened Northeast Conference (NEC) play last Friday with a match against Fairleigh Dickinson in Emmitsburg. Mount goalie Bobby Edwards tied his season-high with nine saves in the tilt, as the Mount and FDU played to a 0-0 draw. Edwards came up with a big save with just under two minutes remaining in the half to keep the game scoreless. Fairleigh Dickinson's Ahu Obhakhan received the ball in the box from eight yards out, but Edwards was able to reach out and made a save with his foot to deny the Knights the go-ahead goal. Edwards made four more saves in the second half, including one from point blank range on Jacob Labovitz with just over 18 minutes left in the frame. The Mountaineers were able to close out the game without surrendering a goal, resulting in a scoreless draw to begin league play.
The Mount has five players tied for the team-lead in both goals and points, with three of those five being freshmen. In the net, Edwards has recorded a .772 save percentage and 1.34 goals against average in nine starts. The net minder ranks second in the NEC in save percentage and shutouts.

The Pioneers dropped a pair of NEC matches last weekend to fall to 1-8-1 overall and 0-2 in league play. SHU opened conference action with a 4-2 loss vs. Saint Francis U, before falling to Robert Morris by a 3-1 margin on Sunday. Alejandro Arribas leads the squad with four goals, and keeper Robert Strain has posted a .685 save percentage and 2.45 goals against average in net.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Sacred Heart owns a 6-4-4 advantage in the all-time series with the Mount, including a 3-2-2 mark in Emmitsburg. The Pioneers enter Friday on a six-game winning streak against the Mount, with the most recent matchup in 2012 resulting in a 3-1 SHU win at Waldron Family Stadium.
SCOUTING SAINT FRANCIS U
The Red Flash currently sit in a tie atop the NEC standings with a 1-0-1 mark in conference and a 5-3-2 record overall. Saint Francis U opened league play with a 4-2 win at Sacred Heart behind two goals and one assist from Mario Mastrangelo. The Red Flash followed with a 0-0 draw at Bryant last time out. Mastrangelo leads all NEC players this season in goals (6) and points (17), and is tied for the league-lead in assists (5). Goalie Alex Morgret owns the best goals against average (1.08) in the NEC, to go along with a .719 save percentage.

The Mountaineers have had success against Saint Francis U in the team's history, holding an 11-8-4 all-time advantage over the Red Flash, including a 6-4-3 record on SFU's home turf. The teams have tied each of the last two meetings, including the most recent match in 2012 in Loretto.
