May 25, 2016--Mount St. Mary's University men's lacrosse player Tommy Lyons has been selected to play in the 76th annual United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division (USILA)/Nike Division I-II North-South All-Star Game. The game will be played on Friday, May 26th, at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium on the campus of Providence College at 5:30 p.m.
Lyons wrapped up his Mount St. Mary's career with 73 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers in 58 games played after setting new career highs in both ground balls (31) and caused turnovers (9) during the 2017 campaign. The team captain was key for the Mountaineers on the defensive end, ranking second on the squad in ground balls and third in caused turnovers.
Lyons becomes the 18th Mountaineer to be selected for the North-South Game, joining D.J. Stevenson (1985), Greg Tolker (1988), Matt Mundorf (1989), Charlie Horning (1992), Dave Gorelick (1993), Pat Fick (1998), Eric Jorgenson (1999), Doug Thompson (2000), Billy Jautze (2005), Russell Moncure (2010), Matt Nealis (2010), Justin Schmidt (2011), T.C. DiBartolo (2011), Brett Schmidt (2013), Bryant Schmidt (2013), Justin Gosnell (2016) and Bubba Johnson (2016).
