After the Mount's Bobby Planutis hit a three-pointer to cut Lehigh's lead to 50-49 with 9:46 left, Lehigh surged ahead with a 17-to-2 run to take control of the game. Jordan Cohen scored eight points while Lance Tejada added a pair of three-pointers during the decisive scoring spurt.
The Mount (3-7) held a one-point at the half, but Lehigh (5-5) used a 7-0 run to grab a 46-40 lead. The Mountaineers cut the deficit to 48-46 on a Robinson bucket, and then 50-49 after the Planutis three-pointer. From there, the Mountain Hawks outscored the Mount 25-to-11 the rest of the way.
Mount St. Mary's struggled from the field, shooting just 33.3 percent overall and 9-of-36 (.250) from beyond the arc in the game. Lehigh shot 47.5 percent and was 7-of-18 (.389) from three-point range. The Mountain Hawks held a 44-to-26 advantage on the boards.
Robinson had 20 points and four assists while Alexander added 17 points and four rebounds in the loss. Jonah Antonio had 11 points while Chris Wray collected four points, seven rebounds, four assists, three blocks and two steals.
Kahron Ross led Lehigh with 18 points with Tejada adding 16. Lehigh had seven players score seven or more points in the game.
Lehigh started the game strong, pushing to a 16-to-6 lead over the first five and a half minutes. The Mount got back into the game, rattling off the next 13 points for a 19-to-16 lead. Three-pointers by Robinson, Antonio and Alexander cut the deficit to 16-15. The Mount took its first lead on a pair of Donald Carey free throws, and Alexander's bucket in the lane capped the 13-0 run.
The Mount continued to surge, pushing its advantage to 27-20 with 6:59 left in the half. Alexander scored in the paint off a feed from Wray, and then he hit a three-pointer to make it 24-to-18. After a Ross basket for the Mountain Hawks, Robinson drilled a three-pointer to give the Mount the seven-point lead.
Lehigh answered back, using a 13-to-4 run to take a 33-31 lead on a Tejada three-pointer with 23 seconds left in the half. The Mount countered when Alexander hit his third triple of the half for a 34-33 lead at the break.
Alexander led the Mount with 13 points while Robinson chipped in 10 in the first half. The Mount was 10-of-27 (.370) from the field and 7-of-22 (.318) from three-point range in the half. Lehigh shot 44.1 percent and held a 23-to-13 advantage on the boards.
The Mountaineers return to action on Friday, December 15, when Washington College (Md.) visits Knott Arena. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
