Mount St. Mary's to Host Delaware in Charity Exhibition Game on November 1

Emmitsburg, Md. (October 26, 2017)—Mount St. Mary's University will host the University of Delaware for a charity exhibition game at Knott Arena on Wednesday, November 1, to raise awareness and financial support for hurricane relief efforts.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. and all proceeds from the game will be donated to Catholic Relief Services to aid Hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico.

"This is such an exciting time of year with college basketball around the corner, and it's been fun to be around a group so eager to learn," said Mount St. Mary's head coach Jamion Christian.  "One of the biggest responsibilities we have as educators is helping our student-athletes understand our place in the world and how important it is to lend a helping hand to those in need. As most people, I was saddened by the devastation in Puerto Rico from Hurricane Maria. When the NCAA allowed those in college basketball the opportunity to help in our special way, we wanted to find a great partner to do so. Coach Inglesby and the University of Delaware became an immediate partner who shared the same vision to help as we do here at the Mount. With that said, let's pack Knott Arena as all the proceeds from our game will go to aid in the relief efforts in Puerto Rico."

A $5 donation is suggested for general admission entrance into Knott Arena for the game with the doors opening at 6:15 p.m.  Fans are also asked to donate non-perishable food items, water, clothing, medical supplies or hygiene products such as razors, diapers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, etc.  In addition, the Mount men's basketball program will make a donation for every student that attends.  Students are encouraged to bring any of the items listed above to donate at the game as well. The game will not be streamed online.

The Mount and Delaware have met 14 times with the Mountaineers holding a 9-5 lead in the all-time series.  The Blue Hens took the last matchup, a 71-49 victory on Nov. 26, 2004.

The Mount will host Hood College for an exhibition game on Saturday, November 4, at 4:00 p.m., at Knott Arena before heading to Marquette for the season opener on Friday, November 10, at 9:00 p.m.

Mount St. Mary's will be hosting its annual Meet and Greet with the men's and women's basketball teams at Glory Days Grill on Thursday, November 2, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  To register for the event, click here.
