With a 67-66 victory over New Orleans in the First Four on Tuesday night, the Mountaineers advanced to the Round of 64, where they will face the overall No. 1 seed and defending national champions Villanova in a tilt on Thursday (March 16) at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo. Opening tip on CBS is set for 7:10 p.m.
· Junior Robinson scored a team-high 23 points, including the go-ahead jumper with 1:29 remaining, in the Mount's 67-66 win over New Orleans in the First Four on Tuesday night. Robinson's pull-up jumper gave the Mountaineers a 65-64 lead. Freshman Miles Wilson added 17 points and 11 rebounds for his second consecutive double-double in the victory. The Mount shot 10-of-19 (.526) from three-point range and 53.2 percent overall.
· Mount St. Mary's improved to 12-4 in the month of March under Head Coach Jamion Christian with the win over New Orleans. That includes a 1-1 record in the NCAA Tournament and a 9-3 record in the Northeast Conference Tournament.
· The Mountaineers are appearing in their fifth NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. The Mount played in the NCAA Tournament in 1995, 1999, 2008 and 2014.
· With 23 points in the win over New Orleans, Robinson is now averaging 21.3 points in the Mount's four postseason games this year. Robinson has scored 20 or more points in three of the past four games. Robinson's 23-point effort was the most points by a Mount player in an NCAA Division I Tournament game, topping 21-point efforts by Will Miller (2014) and Chris Vann (2008).
