Mount St. Mary's University Men's Basketball Announces 2016-17 Schedule

2016-17 Men's Basketball Schedule | Breakdown of Non-Conference Opponents

Emmitsburg, Md. (August 30, 2016)—The Mount St. Mary's University men's basketball team will face an ambitious 2016-17 schedule, released today by head coach Jamion Christian.  The slate, which includes 12 home games, begins with a nine-game road trip.

The Mount will open the season by hosting Hood College for an exhibition game on Saturday, November 5.  Last year, the Mount posted a 64-44 exhibition win over Hood in the first-ever matchup between the two schools.

The Mountaineers will then embark on a challenging season-opening nine-game road trip that includes games at West Virginia (Nov. 11), Iowa State (Nov. 14), Minnesota (Nov. 16), George Mason (Nov. 18), Southern Illinois (Nov. 21), UT Arlington (Nov. 23), Michigan (Nov. 26), Arkansas (Nov. 28) and Loyola (Dec. 3).

The home opener will be against UMBC on Wednesday, December 7, followed by a home contest against Lehigh (Dec. 10).  The Mount heads to Bucknell on December 19 before rounding out the non-conference schedule at home against Coppin State on December 22.

The Mountaineers begin the 18-game Northeast Conference schedule at LIU Brooklyn on Dec. 29.

Coach Christian on the 2016-17 Schedule

"I believe in our team! Over the past four seasons, we've consistently challenged ourselves without fear in our non-conference schedule. By doing this, we have become the most consistent program in the Northeast Conference. As iron is molded in the fire, so will our team. When I see this schedule, I see a head coach who believes in his team's ability to be great."
