McGough Named To All-NEC First Team; Causa, Kriss and Parker Collect All-NEC Second Team Honors

Norwich, Conn (May 23, 2018) -- Mount St. Mary's University pitcher Trey McGough was named to the All-Northeast Conference (NEC) First Team, while infielders Patrick Causa, Alex Kriss and Vaughn Parker II collected All-NEC Second Team honors, as the year-end awards were announced at the conference banquet on Wednesday night.

McGough has been a key piece at the top of the rotation for the Mountaineers, as he leads the team in innings pitched (74.1), strikeouts (62), and complete games (4). He is also tied for the team-lead in wins (4), and ranks second in ERA (4.60). McGough's 74.1 innings pitched and 62 strikeouts are both eleventh-most in a single season in Mount program history. In NEC play, the lefty recorded a 3.57 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 53.0 innings pitched.

Causa broke out during conference play, registering a .356 average, .413 on-base percentage, .529 slugging percentage, nine doubles, three homers, and 26 RBI in league games. The junior shortstop finished the regular season leading the team in doubles (16), RBI (46), and walks (27), while tying for the lead in home runs (5) and ranking top-three in average (.310), slugging (.489), and on-base percentage (.389). Causa's 46 runs batted in are fifth-most in a single season in Mount program history.

Kriss has been a force alongside Causa at the top of the lineup, as he leads the team in average (.314) and hits (60), and is tied for the lead in home runs (5). He also ranks second on the squad in runs scored (33) and third in doubles (10). Kriss' 60 hits rank eleventh in a single season in Mount program history. In conference play, the junior second baseman registered a .328 average, .400 on-base percentage, and 526 slugging percentage, to go along with six doubles, five homers, and 19 RBI.

Parker was a big piece in the cleanup spot for the Mount, posting a .298 averaging, .383 on-base percentage and .468 slugging percentage while collecting 51 hits, 14 doubles, five home runs, and 36 RBI. In conference play, the junior third baseman registered an average of .309, on-base percentage of .407, slugged .464, and recorded 30 hits, six doubles, three homers, and 18 RBI.

The Mountaineers closed out the regular season at 21-31 overall and 15-13 in conference play, and is set for a NEC Championships first round matchup against top-seeded Bryant this Thursday (May 24) at 12 p.m. in Norwich, Connecticut.
