Emmitsburg, Md. (June 1, 2017) – Mount St. Mary's University pitcher Zach Call and first baseman Tyler Post were named the team's Co-Most Valuable Players, as voted on by the team following the conclusion of the season.
After playing all around the diamond during his first three seasons, Call made a move to the mound for his senior campaign. He was the Mount's most consistent pitcher throughout the season, leading the squad in wins while ranking third in ERA and fourth in strikeouts. Call registered three of his four victories in conference play, earning a pair at LIU Brooklyn and the other in a complete game two-hit shutout against Sacred Heart.
Post finished the 2017 campaign with career highs in nearly every offensive category. The first baseman hit .290 on the year with a .378 on-base percentage, 24 runs, 15 doubles, five homers and 33 RBI. He led the team in doubles, home runs and RBI, and tallied nine games with multiple RBI on the year, highlighted by a 4-for-6 day with a pair of runs and five RBI in the opening game of the final series of the season against Wagner.
