Smithfield, R.I. (May 7, 2017) - Bryant completed the weekend sweep against Mount St. Mary's on Sunday afternoon. Six shutout innings helped the Bulldogs push past the Mount 11-1 in the first game of the doubleheader and a twelve hit game helped Bryant top the Mountaineers 6-2 in the second game of the doubleheader.
Game 1: Bryant 11, Mount 1
Alex Kriss recorded a multi-hit game but Mount St. Mary's downed 11-1 by Bryant in the first game.
The Bulldogs struck first scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Tyler Panno hit a triple to right center with the bases loaded that brought everyone on base in to cross home plate.
Bryant scored eight more runs before the Mountaineers got on the board. They scored six more runs in the fifth inning and two more runs in the sixth inning that made the score 11-0.
Patrick Causa grounded into a double play with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh that plated Josh Lenig for Mount St. Mary's only run of the game.
Patterson pitched six shutout innings while only giving up four hits and struck out seven batters in the win.
Zach Call (4-4) picked up the loss for the Mount while Jack Patterson (3-0) picked up the win for Bryant.
Game 2: Bryant 6, Mount 2
Causa and Zach Hostetter each had multi-hit games while Hostetter drove in one of the two runs batted in but Mount St. Mary's was topped 6-2 by Bryant in the second game. Jordan Lawson pitched four solid innings while only giving up one run in relief for the Mount.
Bryant jumped out to the early two run lead in the bottom of the second inning. Cole Fabio singled to center field that plated James Ciliento for the first run of the game.
The Mount scored their first run of the game in the top of the fourth when Hostetter singled that scored Tyler Post.
The Bulldogs added one run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Nick Angelini lined out to center field that scored Gaby Cruz for a sacrifice fly. They plated two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and one run in the bottom of the eighth on two singles.
Kriss drove in the Mountaineers' second run of the game with a double to left center field that plated Sean Kelly.
Trey McGough (1-3) recorded the loss for Mount St. Mary's while Vito Morgese (4-5) recorded the win for the Bulldogs.
The Mount returns home for senior day weekend against Wagner May 19-21 with the first game starting at 3 pm on Thursday.
