Mount St. Mary's Baseball Drops First Game of Series to Savannah State

Savannah, Georgia (March 9, 2017) - Mount St. Mary's Baseball downed by Savannah State in the first game of the series Thursday evening.

Savannah State scored four runs in the bottom of the second to jump out to the early lead and tacked on one more run in the fifth, and two in the sixth and seventh innings. Jacob Lightle led the way for the Tigers going 4-for-5 with one RBI along with Jalen Atterburry went 3-for-5 with one RBI as well. Seven players for Savannah State finished with one RBI in the win against Mount.

Alex Kriss brought in the only run for the Mountaineers on a sacrifice fly that plated Brendan Dabagian in the top of the sixth inning. Jared Urban, Patrick Causa, and Dabagian all recorded hits in the loss while Nathan Seltsam pitched 1.1 innings, allowed no runs, and struck out three batters throwing in relief.

Michael Collins (0-1) recorded the loss for Mount pitching 4.0 innings allowing four earned runs while Trevor McKenna (2-1) recorded the win for the Tigers pitching 7.0 innings allowing just one run.

These two teams will meet for game two of the series Friday, March 10 at 5 p.m.
