Emmitsburg, Md. (December 1, 2016) -- The Mount St. Mary's University baseball team announced its schedule for the 2017 season on Thursday. The 49-game slate includes 22 home games at E.T. Straw Family Stadium, with eight of those coming in non-conference play.
The Mountaineers open the season with a four-game series at New Mexico State (February 24-26), before returning to Maryland for a tilt at Coppin State (March 1). The Mount then makes its way down south for a three-game set at North Carolina A&T (March 3-5), one game at Duke (March 8) and a three-game series at Savannah State (March 9-11). The Mount's matchups against New Mexico State, North Carolina A&T and Savannah State will be the first-ever with those schools in program history.
The Mount opens Northeast Conference play at Central Connecticut State (March 17-19), followed by a home game against George Mason (March 21) and its home-opening league series against LIU Brooklyn (March 24-26) at E.T. Straw Family Stadium. The Mount split its series with the Blackbirds last season in Emmitsburg.
The rest of the Mount's conference slate is highlighted by a four-game set at last year's conference runner-up Fairleigh Dickinson (April 7-9), and a four-game series at reigning NEC Champion Bryant (May 5-7). The Mountaineers will look to add to their series lead against Fairleigh Dickinson as they own a 49-42 advantage all-time over the Knights.
The Mount closes out the 2017 schedule with a four-game series at home against Wagner (May 18-20), who the Mount posted a 3-5 mark against last season.
